Discovery Green isn’t a very big park, but it’s not bad for an urban park and considering that many of the concerts held here are offered free of charge, it’s certainly a place worth checking out. The ice rink is in full swing so wear someting warm and come skate. A short walk to Discovery Green park is just what I needed for some simple rejuvenation. I have attended events in the convention center and Hilton hotel next door and at certain points, I just needed to get away from the crowds and see/smell some greenery. I have visited Discovery Green for concerts and other official events, but I think my best times spent here were simply to get away from everything and enjoy the greenery. Besides the stage and music, the park also features a small, 1 acre lake, a play area for kids, a dog run, a putting green, etc., and a large underground parking garage, which is perfect for events.
The park has a performance stage and because the area isn’t that large, most anyplace you sit will be close enough to hear the sounds. Discovery Green is located in downtown Houston at 1500 McKinney, Houston, TX 77010. The Rink is fun for all ages, but please leave your pets at home. Discovery Green is popular for hosting concerts and it’s common to find shows here throughout the year. A green space in the middle of the concrete jungle of downtown Houston, Discovery Green is a small park with plenty of plants, trees, and other greenery to help you get away from the workaday world and feel a little more at home with nature.
